The Flight Instructor (FI) is responsible for conducting flight training and related ground instruction in accordance with the approved training syllabus, ensuring students achieve the required knowledge, skill, and safety standards as per GCAA regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Flight Instruction Duties
- Conduct dual flight instruction in accordance with the approved training syllabus
- Deliver pre-flight briefings, post-flight debriefings, and ground instruction related to flight training
- Train students in normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures
- Supervise student solo flights as authorized
- Assess student progress and recommend advancement or remedial training
- Maintain accurate student training records and logbooks
Pilot Duties
- Operate company aircraft safely for training, operational, and positioning flights
- Ensure aircraft are operated within approved limitations and procedures
- Conduct pre-flight inspections and ensure aircraft serviceability
- Comply with operational manuals, checklists, and flight procedures
- Report technical defects, incidents, and safety concerns as required
Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, and occurrences.
- Stop training if unsafe conditions exist.
- Promote a positive safety culture among students.
Documentation & Records
- Maintain accurate student training records, logbooks, and reports.
- Ensure all documentation is completed correctly and on time.
- Report student progress, deficiencies, and recommendations to the Chief Flight Instructor
License & Ratings
- Valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
- Flight Instructor (CFI) endorsement
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
Experience
- Minimum of 1000 total flight hours
- Navigation experience as required by FI course syllabus
